Where are your comments?
You may have noticed that's it's taking longer for your comments to appear on the blog. We've had to institute moderation as a result of some comments.
I'll be approving comments as quickly and as frequently as I can, but unfortunately with hot-button issues we occasionally get comments on the blog that don't fit our Terms and Conditions and/or violate the publishing rules and standards the Times has to abide by.

I thought we Grandads were supposed to be 'a soft touch', after all its what we do!

(My original comment was a question similar to Mo2's.

Oh - so no moderation on this one then?

Jen -
Even though you didn't publish my post on this subject (can't remember what I said but don't think it was offensive) - thank you for clarifying. When there's a subject as incendiary as BabyP, it's a good idea to calm things down.

I do agree a temporary mod is probably necessary due to the Baby P stuff, it's a bit like when we tried to rationally discuss Madeline McCann...half the posts were libellous. Understand, hope it passes soon...

You have to do what you have to do, we'll live! :o)

This change is going to be temporary, until the vitriol dies down. unfortunately, a few people are ruining it for everybody.

Is this just a temporary thing, or is it permanent moderation? If it is permanent, can't you moderate after posting (like YouTube does with things that breach their T & C) or have an alert button for us to press? Otherwise there is just no immediacy to the discussion and it becomes a board to display an opinion, not to have the vigorous to and fro debate (and fun) that we've had along the way.

Good idea.
With some topics it was more a matter of attacking other commenters rather than reacting to the story.
I stopped reading AM on a daily basis because I got annoyed by the daily vitriol by some people or just plain stupid comments meant to upset.
