Was that out of order?

The interview, I mean. I think it might have been. Davina = big coward. Basically, in that interview, she totally slaughtered Jo because she never got to have a go at Jade. I mean, Jo is pretty nasty [as evidenced by her leaving Roy to go back to Frank, thus totally shaming him and Barry in front of all Albert Square], but still. It seemed shameless. Like, Davina wanted to blame it on her, so that Big Brother wasn't at all responsible. Yes? No?

Yes. But didn't Cleo fare even worse? Her VT was disgraceful, like all her time in the house only came down to an admittedly humiliating sketch show with Dirk. Davina is well capable of doing a hatchet job - she completely slaughtered poor old Makosi. It seems it depends on how personally offended she is by a HM and takes no notice of the 'mood of the nation'. Last year, she gave that vile witch, Grace, such an easy ride and even took up time asking where she got her lovely boots from. Think she knew her mum or something - bit like everyone to do with BB knowing John Noel.

yeah. agreed. But, what do you reckon was in those bags that Danielle's mother picked up from casa teddo today? Me posters, me indian take-away menus, me book on nature and stuff and me bras n knickers?

Posted by: amy | 27 Jan 2007 01:27:43

It's Jo's own fault for not having the same management as Davina, Dermot, Russell, Jade, Jack and Cleo, innit.

Posted by: fez | 27 Jan 2007 02:11:03

They don't share an agent, remember.

Posted by: Sex Wasp | 27 Jan 2007 02:32:26

Makes it even more obvious that Jade was prompted before she left. If only Jo had got the same agent as Davina/Jade, there wouldn't have been his problem.

Posted by: Dave | 27 Jan 2007 07:43:47

Yes I agree - Jade was treated with 'sensitivity' - no lynch mob waiting for her etc. and then Jo got it right in the neck, when to be honest, her contribution to this "international incident", as Davina put it, was merely smoking and giggling her way through an argument between two other people.
It seemed to me that Davina didn't like Jo very much. I wonder how much stick (if any) Danielle is going to get, given that they are all coming out on Sunday...?

Posted by: N. Gallagher | 27 Jan 2007 08:32:20

No.Davina was perfectly within her rights to quizz Jo about her appauling behaviour.
Jo, unfortunately was not mature enough or self aware enough to take any responsibility for her words in the house.
What goes round come round. I'm sure she'll have alot more consequences to deal with.

Like her ill-fated chat show, I think this episode in BB history has shown just how lacking Davina is as a presenter. Good at the outside shouty stuff, but no cop at all when it comes to the more difficult game of getting the best out of people in an interview. She just comes off as shallow and a bit teenage. Rather an eye-opener for me as we're about the same age - note to self, do not behave like this, is a bit sad.

Can I just say, also, Cleo on the subject of the argument "it needed a man. We needed Jermaine, a man, to calm things down." EWWWWW, woman. Get (a) some self respect, (b) some backbone, (c) rid of the old Kenny memories (he's gone, darling. We will never see his like again, and no-one else will ever find you as fabulous), (d) a haircut, I suppose, even though I quite like the big orange frightwig thingy I think it encourages you to behave like a young girlie when you are , in fact, middle-aged and (e)off my goddamn screen

Yes, it was. What is mostly showed is that Jade had been comprehensively briefed before her exit, and that The Warden was completely in the dark. Stupid, because it's impossible to conduct an interview with someone not very bright who's in a state of shock. Also, as everyone else has pointed out, Jo and Davina don't share an agent.

Do you think the penny's finally dropped for Danielle? That she's realised everyone hates her mates, and, by extension, her? Or was she crying with joy at being one of 2 women left in the house?

Cat: totally with you on "It needed a man". God's sake.

Posted by: India | 27 Jan 2007 11:24:43

oh my god. I'm watching the re-run.

AWFUL TOE CURL MOMENT ALERT: Cleo, when she said to Dirk 'I've hated you for the last 3 days, but now I like you.'

Dirk's face: a picture.
but no hate. no hate. Only love. In a hateful way. Hatelove. Hattylove. Loveyhats. Lovely Hats. I lovely hats you Dirk.

I think the most interesting bit would be Shilpa's interview. Will she be shown the cameos of "racist" bits said to her face and behind her back? And followed up with a question by Davina "you said initially that you felt that you were the victim of racism but then took it back, now that you have seen what was said about you, what do you think"? Will she be given time with her manager and PR agent to prepare for this?

Posted by: Trini | 27 Jan 2007 12:52:10

no
i think davina was right to question jo like that. who is worse, the followers or the leaders?

Posted by: anna | 27 Jan 2007 13:33:31

While the individuals Jo, Jade and Danielle try to individually 'explain' their comments, collectively it amounted to ignorant racism. That is, they don't seem to understand the fullness of racism and therefore don't understand that they are doing it.

Jo said, when in discussion with Danielle about Shilpa tasting food off someone else's plate, and at Danielle's question about which culture/country 'eats with their hands'
"...I don't like all that".
All what dear?
She wasn't simply referring to a single incident regarding one person.

Have these girls never shared a bag of chips, a packet of crisps or a bag of sweets?

Fish and chips -the quintessentially English finger food for sharing around!

It beggars belief however that she was involved in a discussion about the hygiene implications of "..all that" while permanently sucking on cancer sticks!

Trini, yes, absolutely wondering myself how Shilpa's exit and 'your-time-in-the-house' moment will be handled.

Posted by: A Hack | 27 Jan 2007 18:11:54

Trini, I bet there's no way Davina questions Shilpa too much about the racism thing - were you, weren't you? Because obviously CBB don't want it coming out that contestants were briefed in the middle of the show. Shilpa's recantation - 'no, not racism' - was so pitifully staged it was laughable.

I reckon heads must roll now - some of the production team, obviously, not only for allowing the whole horrid thing to happen, but also for effing up the voting the other day and bragging at how much the controversy has made them. And Davina, for being a useless interviewer and having too many Bad Hair Days. Garnier Nutrisse might do well to reconsider her contract too. Miaow!

More pertinently, who forgot to tell Davina that Colman's Mustard is a condiment, not a hair colour? Criminal.

Posted by: Emmie | 27 Jan 2007 18:38:48

Heads must roll at C4 eh?....but when we vote - will it be to evict or save?

Posted by: Reality Jane | 27 Jan 2007 19:37:07

We would like to point out that using our esteemed product COLMANS MUSTARD is an enviromentally-friendly method of hair coloration. The user has the choice of two applications - powder or paste. Either way, application is simple and successful. A tingling or burning feeling on the scalp may be experienced during the coloring procedure, more pronounced in those suffering from dandruff or weeping boils in the head area. It is advised that the eyes should be protected, as any deposit of the mustard in the eyes during application may cause discomfort. When the process is finished, the mustard can be rinsed off and some of the residue used later in the manufacture of ham sandwiches.
