It has been a division full of talent throughout the years, right back to the days of Abe Attell, through the likes of Henry Armstrong (pictured, left), Willie Pep, Sandy Saddler, Vicente Saldivar, Salvador Sanchez, Azumah Nelson, Eusebio Pedrosa, Barry McGuigan right through to the likes of Naseem Hamed, Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera (pictured, right).

It has been a long time since Wayne McCullough was in the ring, but the fire still burns in the belly of the former WBC bantamweight champion. The Pocket Rocket has not boxed since being pulled out by his corner at the end of ten rounds in a WBC super-bantamweight challenge against Oscar Larios nearly three years ago. But he will return to the ring on June 20 in the Cayman Islands.
McCullough will be facing no soft touch, either, as his opponent is Juan Ruiz, a 29-year-old Californian who boxed for the NABF title in his last bout.

Slipping almost under the radar, Wayne McCullough returns to the King's Hall in Belfast on Saturday, when he faces Kiko Martinez, the exciting 21-year-old Spaniard who won the European super-bantamweight title in Dublin in September by stopping Bernard Dunne in one round. McCullough has been out of the ring for two-and-a-half years and at 37 this is realistically his last chance to make it back to the top.
