Tom watson is a politician. It seems to be the thinking that he's a Brownie, or whatever that lot are called. Well, in that case he's going to toe the Brownie party line, isn't he? The factions, if that is what they are, have reached an accommodation and are going to stick to it (for the time being).
That much is remarkably obvious to me, a non-politico of the "plague on all your houses" school. I'm surprised that you can't see it.
What that means is that Watson's piece is meaningless. Full stop.

Maybe he meant 'send off' in a footballing sense - it's time that the party gave Blair a red card (with all the intriguing old Labour overtones that implies)
