Comment Central debate: should Miliband run?
Mary Ann Sieghart and David Aaronovitch have a great understanding of the Labour Party. So it's really worth listening to their discussion on whether David Miliband should have a tilt at the leadership. David says "no": Labour doesn't need a contest, Miliband as PM would be too big a gamble and Gordon Brown would win anyway. Mary Ann is gung-ho, the boy David - a geek with great human skills - can beat Gordon Brown, so he should run.

Is Miliband about to have a Portillo '95 Moment?
What will his slogan be when the Bolshies are in opposition in 2010: vote for me, I bottled it last time?

Mary Ann - you're much more good looking than your usual caption photograph suggests.

Gordon Brown has been favourite for so long he can only go one way - down!
Of course David Miliband should contest teh Labour Leadership, he has nothing to lose. Brown is too linked to the past 10 years. If Brown should still win, David Miliband will still have advanced his standing and will reap the electoral benefits.

Should Miliband run? Yes, as far away as possible.

There is a moment for everything. It seems to me that Milliband should wait. Unless he has already got a clear vision and a core team of experienced supporters able to help him behind the scenes to translate it to policies.
In other words, youth is not everything. Look at lack of substance from Cameron and his 'poster' boys.
