President Fred Thompson - the new Reagan?

Fred_thompson_1 A few years back, at a dinner for John McCain and William Hague, I noticed a man walking in who looked exactly like a CIA station chief in a movie. The reason? He was a CIA station chief, or similar, in more than one movie. His name was Fred Thompson and the movie actor had become the Senator for Tennessee.

Now he is back on television (in Law and Order) but he is also being seriously punted for President and, by all accounts is considering a run.

Will he run? He well might, important people want him to, but friendship with John McCain is the most likely thing to put him put him off.

Could he become the Republican nominee? The nomination remains very open. Rudy Giuliani is very vulnerable (see this story, for instance), McCain is faltering and Mitt Romney is considered flaky by many. Thompson has a solid conservative voting record and appeals to the base. He has name recognition and being an actor reminds people of Reagan.

Could he win? A solid conservative might struggle this time around anyway, but Thompson has other deficiencies. Reagan was a Governor of a large state, don't forget, while Thompson is not even a two term senator, as well as becoming the first Senator to work in a drama series while still serving.

So he's flawed. But definitely intriguing.

I do not see why not. Reagan was a good Governor of California before it went completely potty. He was also a grear President. Sorry Liberals, facts beat insults every time. Fred was a pretty good Senator, mainly because he was rich enough not care about Washihgton,he got on with his job. However, I do not think he will get the nomination. He is too much a Republican for the RINO's. Republicans In Name Only.

Fox News has been heavily talking up Thompson since the weekend.
Do they know something or is it wishful thinking?

Fred Thompson would be an excellent candidate. He is smart, strong, and pragmatic; just what we need.

Eva. You are green with jealousy. But then behold. Says Shakespeare Women are always jealous. You don’t like Hillary. I like her. So where does the education come in. This is politics not English class.
All have their own heroes like you may like Elvis. I like rolling Stones. Because they are rolling.

Eva. Me again. I did not talk of Adam. You feel bad?

Posted by: Firozali A.Mulla MBA PhD | 15 Mar 2007 09:23:09

You do not like Adam! The first he man created by the lord to correct our paths because we were stupidly following the wrong paths. Of course, he was lured to eat the fruit butt that too was Eva’s (not) work. The lord sent many prophets. None seems to have done anything to women. I mean green with jealousy is stuck with the phrase "Women thy name is jealousy" That is what I meant and you do not like Adam, I like Hillary and Bill Clinton. Are they not the ones who lifted the economy of USA, I mean Bill had a bad name of Monica stuck to his coins abut the idea is the economy was and the peace was in the world when Bill with Hillary sticking close to her like the super glue. There you are, can you beat that?

Hopefully we can send a message to the RINOs by helping Fred get the nomination. If Bush had been more conservative, the past election results would not have been so close.
