Spot the difference

In "Won't Get Fooled Again", The Who sing of how the "parting on the left becomes the parting on the right".

Times cartoonist Peter Brookes has noticed that Cameron's parting on the right has become a parting on the left. It's a pleasure. All part of the Comment Central service.

Cameronbeforeandafter

The left picture shows Cameron as he was until early this month. On the right, Cameron yesterday.

(UPDATE: Extensive picture research suggests that the change took place between Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday 7th March and 11.58am on Thursday 8th March)

The Daniel Finkelstein (pbuh) has noted that David Cameron's parting has moved from one side of his head to the other. Clearly, quoting The Who was what had to be done there. However, as one very decent economist will point [Read More]

Clark Kent's hair parted on the right, Superman's on the left - are David cameron's y-fronts on the inside or the outside of his trousers this week?

Funny you should mention that but I've always thought that Mr Cameron looks like a hairdresser. From Croydon.

That picture on the right makes him look like the phantom of the opera.

I wonder if we should have a competition suggesting what jobs politicians should really be in based on what they look like.

Baldness issues?

It has been suggested that David has recently hired a new age lifestyle guru. Deep breathing techniques and daily yoga sessions are said to be part of his daily routine. The mystery guru is also advising the Tory leader on his 'external' image.

What do I get? Look Daniel, the right picture was when there was peace and the left is when the guy in USA spoke about the 9/11 and Blaire spook of the Trident affair. Blaire cannot, will not handle and he leaves this to the one who is coming. See his hair all raised up. He is a photogenic is he not? Not you, not Blaire David Cameron. I am talking of him. Handsome aint he?

UK pandit. For correction only. Don’t ignore this.

There are no proper YOGA schools in UK. You have to go to Indian northern border near Pakistan fro proper YOGA HAIRDO. You know where the guns go every second. The Kashmir, or Pakistan or Iraqi, or Iran That border. They have very good hair stylists.

So when is he going to have a centre parting then?

Posted by: Rory Broomfield | 15 Mar 2007 11:25:09

Hmm. Could be trying to conceal the fact that his hair naturally parts on the right, as did... ADOLF HITLER'S?

Posted by: Bob Hobbs | 15 Mar 2007 11:57:12

Are you sure that the negative is not put the wrong way around ?

Not Superman. Not Hitler. My brother put me on to this. You won't believe it. Jimmy Carter.

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,537709,00.html:

"Milton Pitts, barber to the past four Republican Presidents, died last week at 84 and left unanswered a titillating question he himself raised. Would U.S. history have been different if Democrats Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton had not haughtily tossed him out of his tiny White House shop and turned to politically naive hair stylists? Pitts, who believed hair had become a crucial image factor, thought so. A few students of presidential esoterica have had sympathy for the ideas of this jolly tradesman, who through skill and nerve climbed higher in the power circle than any other barber in history outside of Seville.

"When Carter in 1979 changed his hair part from right to left and added a little tint, Pitts was aghast, confiding to friends, 'That guy is not going to last.' One Pitts theory was that untested leaders could, with seemingly % innocent things, set off a slide into oblivion. In Pitts' view, Carter's hair change was too dramatic, suggesting self-adulation. And when Clinton had his $200 haircut from Beverly Hills' Christophe aboard Air Force One, Pitts predicted an image implosion because the new President would be viewed as indulgent and undignified ..."

Hugh Sidey, Time magazine, Thursday, Nov. 06, 2003.

Then theres the Hair Part Theory, which says that parting on the right emphasises right brain activity (intuition, feeling, creativity), and on the left is left brain activity (logical, rational, problem solving). Generalizations, yes, but theres a lot to suggest that parting on the right leads to some rather unique personalities. Jimmy Carter actually has changed his public persona quite a bit since being on the left, which usually works better for most men.
