Prof Fish's column was outdated, barely funny and fogeyish. So I'd say that puts him in great company on the op-ed pages. The competition for "worst ever op-ed" is pretty bloody fierce.
Worst piece of journalism-crit ever? Step forward Ron Rosenbaum of Slate. Why take 1,180 words to say... virtually nothing (especially when the object of his ire is only 768 words). The oustanding Suck.com used "fish in a barrel" as it's philosphical touchstone. But they were mostly being ironic, in a touchingly nineties kind of way. Slate, apparently, isn't (unless Rosenbaum's piece was one big joke I missed...)
