Soggy problem, crunchy solution

Cereal_2 I've never been as worried as I should be about climate change because I assume we'll invent a technological solution that will offset its impact.

In the meantime however, our scientists are busy on more important matters.

They've come up with a brilliant solution to one of the most vexing of breakfast time issues. How do you prevent the bulk of your cereal from becoming soggy, if you dally while eating it?

Easy, say the boffins at Eatmecrunchy.

Their new cereal bowl boasts a shelf to keep your Corn Flakes* in top condition while you eat.

What will they think of next? (How to keep Diet Coke in an opened can from going flat when outside on a cold day, hopefully, and then climate change)

Hat Tip: Boing Boing

*Works for Frosties and a wide range of other tasty breakfast treats, too. Not sure it would work with Weetabix though.

I like my cereal soggy. I often pour the milk in the leave it a bit while I make a cup of tea.

Mr Whitwell ref your post above, it is delightful to see such examples of sheer raw personal courage as your comment above.
Like Tony Blair and OJ Simpson you have seized this burning issue by the throat and given it the essential publicity it needed.
The twilight world of the soggy cereal deviant salutes you.

Sounds like a great idea! I've ordered two for £7, including P&P - perfect for a gift if they're no good >;)

How is this any different from keeping cereal in the box and adding more in the bowl when you're ready?

Posted by: Anne | 18 Oct 2007 20:08:26

It's an elegant solution to a genuine problem, but it looks like it could be a nightmare to clean.

Why does breakfast cereal like cornflakes have to be eaten with cold milk and must snap, crackle or pop? I get really annoyed that adverts seem to be all one sided, and don't show how nice it is with Hot milk.
My bowl for the day, or night, is equal servings of Cornflakes, Shredded Wheat (small size) and Shreddies. Add milk, microwave until hot. Add sugar if required, and stir a bit until a mix is obtained. You'll never eat cold cereal again!
regards,

Those dried banana bits play havoc with your fillings if you don't let them soak. Or, not the fillings but the remains of tooth round the outside of the filling. Fruit'n'Fibre'n'Tooth fragments - you can tell I date from before flouride

Cereal is for sucks.

Why would you want a special bowl to eat it dry? Eat it out of the box then. Cereals must be eaten with milk (warm or cold).

Posted by: Igor | 22 Oct 2007 12:23:06

Why not just 2 bowls -- one for cereal, one for milk? Take a spoonful of cereal, dip it in the milk bowl, and crunch away. Any soggy bits that remain in the bottom of the milk bowl can be re-packaged and sent to Mr. Whitwell. And yes, I agree with Onenhung (I may call you that, mayn't I?)that a good hot cereal is a fine thing. I'm a fan of Grape-Nuts with hot milk and perhaps a little cinnamon.

I think there are so many more serious problems to solve (even if we don't consider world poverty and imposed wars on innocent people) that the scientists should feel ashamed to focus on such petty things; besides real scientists would not promote eating processed food to the public in this way or any other way! I am happy to have home made bread (no preservatives) and dried or fresh fruit and nuts with some milk for my breakfast ( preferrably all organic)and that certainly not in some plastic container! and before you ask, no I am not from the previous century, I am only health and environment conscious.

That's a total faff having 2 bowls!
I've got one of these bowls - it really work and I'd recommend it to you all!
