The start of spin....Eisenhower style
The Colbert Report presents some hilarious political ads. Bear in mind these were concocted long before the birth of the slick advertising agency and omnipresent spin doctor.
(The 'I love the Gov' ad is particularly deserving of a spot on our top campaign anthems list.)

The ad featuring the atomic blast was from 1964, and, so I have heard was only played once. It was meant by the Lyndon Johnson side to portray Barry Goldwater (the Republican) as a nut who would start a war. One old timer told me, "They said if I vote for Goldwater, I will get a war. Well, I voted for Goldwater, and sure enough I got a war." He was referring to LBJ and the Vietnam War.
