Should Hillary Clinton just pull out?

In my latest Twofer, I talk to Sarah Baxter about the impact of Pennsylvania on Clinton and Obama's chances. What does all of this mean for the Democratic party?

Two of a kind they can both pull out as McCain is the man for the big job the others just talk big.

Obama has made a colossal mistake in not finishing off Clinton when the time was right: He should have declared her candidacy OVER!...stating quite correctly that she is unfit to be President.. when she made her outrageously untrue statements about going into Bosnia under sniper fire!

He would have taken some flack...but he would certainly have sealed the nomination. He probably hesitated feeling that he may need Hillary as a potential VP candidate

Being "too nice" cost Al Gore the Presidency when he ran against George W. Bush. Obama is making the same mistake.

One cannot co-exist with a Cobra: The Cobra is not very likely to be "nice" to you!

Lo and behold! Hillary has "dodged the bullets" once again!

Yes she should drop out. After saying she was under sniper fire,
a LIE, and more importantly, that
she would obliterate IRAN! She has
always been duped by the righties,
that's why they want her!!! She's
a hawk just like McCain, how can
she beat him? She Can't, but Obama
who was against the war, against
bankruptcy andnafta CAN!!!

Yes, Clinton should pull out of the race. She stood so low to get the nomination by all means. Why does she even think that she deserve the nomination? If she is that experience, why can't she talk about her experience instead of personal attack on Obama? Let's talk about Jeremiah Wright: When Monica was getting down with Clinton in the white house, and he was almost impeached from the white house, the first person he turned to for prayer was Jeremiah Wright. Why is Obama not talking about it? Why can't Obama attack Clinton as well. I think Obama should fight back, by not fighting back, she took him as being week. Obama is sticking to his promise that, he would not destroy another person to get into the white house. You know that the governor of Pennyslvania is a racist person and he did not hide that. "We shall meet in North Carolina". If the republican wants to air stupid add, go ahead, it will backlash because we don't really care anymore. Why is the republican not attacking Hillary as Obama has being attacked? Because they want Hillary in November, they know they will kick her bot to the curb. This is not yet a race against McCain, this is between Clinton and Obama, so stupid racist republican should back off. Obama is a good person, you are only crucifying him by association. All you mnbc, fox news who are putting Obama down, let us dig into your background as well and see what we will dig out. The whole world will be suprised. Nobody is perfect and all of you are not perfect, but just being racist. Bill, you are not going back to the whitehouse because Monica is long gone. Do you leave something in the oval office? The media are very bias against Obama. Obama is well educated than Hillary and less baggage than her. Also Obama watch out for those who think they support you, they are underdog as well. "Go Obama for president".

As an American who participates in the process it is clear that the weakening of the Democratic Party started when Florida and Michigan decided that it was in their best interest to violate the primary agreements they signed on to do with the Democratic National Committee and get a head start on effecting the outcome of the primaries by holding their earlier that they agreed. When Hilary Clinton made negative campaigning the focus of the election and not the considerable issues confronting the country, her constant din of mindless politicking finally took its toll on Brack "We need to focus on the issues facing this country" Obama. As with Florida and Michgan it is in Hilary Clinton's best interest to play politics as usual, she understands that Americans think politics as a contact sport, and she plays to that pedestrian weakness. She is in it to win, and America has little to do with her ambition. She has exaggerated her record and influence on the world stage. The sad part is voters eat it up like popcorn. In the meantime the real issues facing this country and ignored for the soap opera. If Obama wants to win then he should stop playing Clinton's mindlessly numbing game and get back to his core beliefs and the direction this country needs to take. We have to have at least one candidate who truly puts America above their own personal amibition. If Obama wins then that promise we hear so much about here in the USA might just come to fruition. If not, then you Brits owe it to your colonial cousins to invade and take the place over before the Chinese do.

Hillary Clinton is too greedy, I think. Once first lady is not enough for her. I am just wondering what kind of greed would she become when she gets elected as President.

Posted by: laura | 24 Apr 2008 06:39:49

No, she should not give up. If she does, then all who have voted for her will be let down. This, according to my American friends, has become a racial nomination, proved by the distribution of votes. Hilary Clinton should fight until the fat lady sings.

Why in dawg's name should Hillary pull out of the race? Excepting Illinois, which is Obama's home state, she has done very well in the big state contests essential for a Democratic win in November. She has the white working class solidly behind her, also the elder democrats and women; Hispanics and Orientals back her overwhelmingly. Obama's wins have been in small states, for the most part, the ones that usually go red, and probably would do so again in a general election. The race has been very useful to show the mettle of these candidates. And what has become ever the more noticeable is that Obama, once entertained as a populist marvel, appealing to whites who saw him as their redeemer from their historical racism, and to blacks who saw him as their political messiah, is in reality not much more than a conventional, middle-to-the right politician. He is a corporate candidate, heavily funded by globalist American capital. How much possible change can that augur if he became President? Hardly any. He would be nothing more than a Uncle Tom caretaker of the imperial interests of the American Establishment.

Ironically enough, at one point John Howard was called the ‘18% Man’ (as a reflection of a public opinion poll) prior to becoming Australia’s longest serving (successive) Prime Minister. Surely someone must have told him at that point to just give up.

Posted by: Marcus | 24 Apr 2008 09:01:34

With John "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" McCain and Hillary "Obliterate Iran" Clinton it looks like Obama is the only chance we have at avoiding nuclear winter.

Posted by: Alistair | 24 Apr 2008 09:13:17

I do not think Hillary should give up the race, not just yet, and my logic is this: I would love to see the Republicans out of the White House, to achieve this the Democrats need a strong candidate. Apart from Obama continually saying he wants change, that is all he is saying, no substance or plan, he must have the first political non-manifesto ever. One other thing is, without sounding like a racist, I honestly do not think the US is ready to accept a black President. I know so far he has the majority of the nominees behind him, but remember that those are only the Democrats who have always been seen as liberals. If only a small percentage of those voters supporting Hillary, if Obama is nominated, swing behind the Republicans it is good night Democrats for the next eight years, or more.

Obama is way too left wing for most American's taste. This is something most Europeans do not understand. The choice is either Clinton or McCann. The Democrats need to unite behind Clinton if they want to beat McCann in November. The Dems should not be over confident---it will not be an easy task.

Posted by: John Correia | 24 Apr 2008 13:03:54

I think Hillary should give up like the Republican candidates who knows they can't win and do the respectable thing. The Clintons will hold on and infact is doing nothing productive, for her self or the Democratic Party. Unite behind one candidate makes more sense, she should not damage her self enough that no one can take the Party seriously. Hillary is fighting to hang on, hanging on is not enough with no prospects, she won by 10% in the only states she did win they were not by huge majority. Hillary is not popular in the Country over all, and Republicans have been using tactical votes, to use Hillary to Damage the party, and Damage the only viable candidate, from that angle alone she should quit, and the fact of the matter is, Hillary knows that. Who is giving Hillary money to Damage her own Party the Republicans, to keep her in the race. I think after the next two Primaries the Super deligates should show their hands. I do not see Hillary winning even if she got Nominated. Obama has not done the dirty campaigning desperate Hillary has done, which is what has caused these unpleasant recent events. Obama does not feel he should have to lower himself to that standard, he has to use dignity and Presidential material has to excercise restraint. We have already heard how much of a bad temper Mr McCain has, I know that Hagee has endorced Mr McCain, Hagee is a Religious Fundemental organisation, who has meetings at the White House with G W Bush, he mentions what is said, and they are not interested in Peace in Palestine, and Hagee says Israel should not give up an inch of land for peace, so basically what the American government says regarding Peace in the Middle East, it is a pack of lies. Because behind the seen there is no interest in peace because Hagee don't want it nor does Parslie, each support McCain & G W Bush. Here we have this interfearance in Politics by American Christian Fundamentalist. And in the Middle East we have the same thing Muslim Fundamentalist, who does not want peace, and these are real issues if Israel continues to expand in Palestinian areas because American Fundamentalist Christians, are funding the expantions in the Palestinian areas you can not acheive peace. The American Government is not telling the people the real issues. In order to acheive stability it is essential that peace is acheived. Because this is exactly why Oil prices are so high, and the reason, America started the war in Iraq, and Hagee wants a war in Iran as well. And Hagee has said and I heard his because I watch his broadcasts, said, America must not leave Iraq, this is why the Republicans are tied to this sensless worthless war because, the whole programme is about the ideology to bring about end times. Parslie, wants America to attack Russia, these American Fundamentalist are a very dangerious groups of people with big inflewences, in the Republican party. And low and behold America is stiring it up with the Russians and they are becoming agressive, towards the west, another country with a large reserve of gas and oil. America needs some checks and balances, before this whole thing gets out of control. America also must look at this Bio Fuel idea, which is extreamly flawed, land required to grow food can not be used to produce oil for cars, and the damage to our eco-structure could be life threatening to both wild life as well as people.

Posted by: Daphne Kenward | 24 Apr 2008 13:24:38

I think Mr Garth Strong's comments, says it exactly right. Obama should have took the opportunity to end the Campaign. He hesitated, that Bosinia sniper fire, pack of lies, was the moment, he let it slip. Hillary wants to establish the Clinton's Dynasty, she has no interest in the American people, what so ever. This Health Care plan will be dead in the water, it is some thing to run on, she tried to introduce this half baked idea once before, never got off the ground. She is not going to pull the Troops out of Iraq, the Gun Lobbiest & the Arms dealers, will have none of it. Halliburton will have none of it either. The Bullet Manufacturing Companies will have none it either, Hillary Clintons & Bill Clinton is why most Companies closed down, their NAFTA interest is a money spinner for the Clintons, it is all about self interest for a single group of people, they can afford Gas for their car's poor Blacks & poor whites & Hispanic's have no chance. They have sold their souls out to Hillary & Bill for nothing, they have been tricked and used for their votes once in office they will be forgotten. I hear about experience being spoken about, what experience, did Bill Clinton have when he went into the White House?. Look at G W Bush, what benefits did he bring to the table? what difference did his experience yield?, a Bankrupt economy, oil prices per barrel 6 x more expensive, food prices going through the roof Job losses, homelessness, hopelessness. Now we have this Bio fuel which farm land that is normally used to produce food is being used, to grow crops to produce oil for cars, and to hell with people and our eco structure, and our Bio Diversity. These old boys are a danger to the entire globe. What answer does Hillary has for that? all she has to do is appeal to people who don't know or care about their future, or our environment or have the sense to know they shoul, and these issues needs urgent attention. We are in trouble, globally, economically, socicially, and politically, look at where we are now after all these leaders who has lead the world towards hell in a hand basket.

For your information all you out there, who thinks Hillary should not pull out of the race. Romney Pulled out when he knew he was not going to win. Why is Hillary still in the race? it is because there is the Florida Votes to Count that was the Democratic plot against Obama. Only he did not know, that was the JUST INCASE PLAN, why did the American Black Voters ask why was it, only HILLARY who put her name on the BALOT PAPER. McCain did not nor did Obama or any one else, because they were following the rules. Hillary thinks the rules does not apply to her, WHY! because there is an hidden agenda, just incase she could not pull it off, she is now speaking that she has the most votes, well if people had no one else to vote for naturally they voted Hillary in Florida, the only name on the Ballot. Bush stole an Election, so why could it not happen twice. The Clintons are dirty trickesters, if that Election is stolen, and I was Black living in America I would never Vote for the Democrats again, infact I would form my own PARTY, they want to split the country on RACIAL LINES, HISTORY REPEATING IT'S SELF. Hillary did not have to take the election seriously, she had another plan hence why she is behind and is still in the race because, Obama took off by storm, but Hillary did not expect that, but has her contengecy plan. Obama's had better get them selves motivated so this election does not do any more damage, it could result in the distruction of the Democratic Party, taking away the voice of the people, and Hillary will say the voice of the people was stolen, in Florida. If Hillary agreed that those votes were not to be counted, then she must say why they are so important now. The American public must realise who this Hillary really is, she is a SCORPION she will sting Obama when he least expect's it he should have been more forceful. Being a gentleman with a Venomous SNAKE will not help him. He should have read I Claudious, Politicans are not to be trusted, people do not recall the false promises it has become a way of life the world over. They will promise you the world and give you nothing, and change is too important to let hope die, killed of by Hillary Clinton, who has used Black Americans to gain power and have never employed a single Black person in the White House, the Republicans have shown that even if we do not like Condi Rice or Powell untruths, it showed a Cabinet that represented the general public, in high office when did that occur under Bill Clinton, these people are secret Racists, that says one thing in public and something else behind the seens, so she will appeal to old segregationists, and appeal to young forward thinking people, who has moved into the 21st century, and the more educated, ignorant people do not embrace change, even if it will help them because they lack understanding of the issues they are faced with Obama already knew that going into(PA). Its not really a Victory for Hillary, Obama had to put more advertising into the area to get some to listen, as the Bible say some information will fall on fertile ground some will fall on dried rocks and wither away, that was true in (PA). It was a loss dressed up as a Victory, hanging into a race you have already loss is not a win. Unless you have an hidden agenda.

Hillary should not pull-out, she has great work to finish -- a job begun by her "husband" - viz. the dstruction of lte Democrat party and its strangle-hold on America.

Posted by: Rok | 24 Apr 2008 15:45:15

Can't somebody in the Democratic Party just drive a wooden stake through her heart?

Posted by: John Ball | 24 Apr 2008 15:59:38

Global warming is an issue for the world, dirty tricks to fool the general public against Obama via Clintons & McCain is tragic, if what we are faced with was so important why was Bill Clinton the only man in History got impeached for having a BLOW JOB in the OVAL OFFICE he was elected to improve the condition of life for the people, yet we have a strong divide between RICH & POOR, BLACK & WHITE, MEN & WOMEN, and an ECONOMY IN SHAMBLES, a COUNTRY IN MELT DOWN, did all the hatred of one another do any thing to improve your country, and all these divisions, we need to act in a collective way to turn the tide, and operate with the best ideas and the most constructive, we have tried the distructive approach. The thing about Most Americans they do not see these issues as a GLOBAL problem. If we get it wrong again with another BUSH, CLINTON Bull S...! we may as well kiss our A..! good bie.
