Have your say on Brown's star quality
So, Gordon Brown was on American Idol last night. Alas, he was not belting out karaoke classics; he was promoting an anti-malaria drive. But, what with the tan, the teeth and the smiles, the performance did have something of the game-show host to it. Stick with this clip through the advertisments and see for yourself:
And while we're basking in the bottled charisma that is Brown on the box, let's remind ourselves of last November's spontaneous outpouring of delight that Countdown had been on television for 20 years:
Well, what do you think?
He wouldn't dare do that, 'God Bless' line in the UK media. I'm surprised he did it on US television either; he must have known it would be publicised here too.

I wonder who tied his tie?

I'm sorry, but Gordon Brown has to be the most arrogant and obnoxious man I have ever seen. He has no idea what is going on in his own country and seems to think as long as his puppets in the cabinet say the things he wants, all will be OK.

I'll admit the smile was a bit creepy, but Mr. Brown comes across as at least 100 times more articulate as our leading politicians who are supposed to be so 'media-savvy'.

The God bless in cringe. The countdown is unbearably pointless and creepy. But the $200 million is a good thing and what better place to publicize an issue than American Idol. I hate his style but Idol was a good move.

I've never seen Brown smile yet. It is no more than a facial quirk in an attempt to soften his dour Scot's image

When he's booted out by the electorate, he'll need another source of income. This is just him auditioning.

Surely we should be focussing on the point of his little speech - raising money for a good cause? So what if it's creepy, give me Gordon Brown over George Bush anyday.

They should have played “American idiot” whilst he was speaking .
That obnoxious man can not open his mouth, without giving hundreds of millions of our money away.
He wants to have a look at a little third world country called ENGLAND. I cant wait to vote him out, and put some one who is not an escaped loony in

God what a plonker. I went off him when he invited Mrs. Thatcher to tea and most unsubtly tried to have some of her gravitas rub off on him. "I'm a conviction politician too".
Bring back Tony Blair. I felt sorry for him over Iraq, I am not sure that he really had a choice, we don't know the full facts. Liked the guy a lot.

The man is an idiot. England - please get him out by destroying NuLabour on 1st May. As a Scot, I am sorry we have inflicted him upon you. That accent - pure mid-Adlantic!
