What present should Boris have bought Bloomberg?
Boulton & Co brings news of the great mayoral meeting. The Bloomberg-Boris agenda included some big subjects: crime, congestion charges and who'd bought the nicest present...
Michael Bloomberg was the first to present his offering, giving Boris a Tiffany box containing a crystal Big Apple paperweight.
Not one to be outdone, Boris handed over.... a novelty London Underground shirt, wrapped in plastic.
A novelty London Underground shirt? Oh dear. Hands down win for New York.
Surely there must be something better out there. Some piece of kitsch that encapsulates London. A tea cosy? A double decker bus model? Even a left over Back Boris Oyster card holder?
Your suggestions please.
What gift would cement this 'special relationship'?

Wow, I don't know who looks more dejected - Bloomberg for receiving the T-Shirt, or Boris for handing it over.
As for a good present that represents London; how about an Eastern-European plumber and and Eastern-European handgun, to show the two aspects of the global economy that are having the greatest impact on the city?

Well it looks like we need a hatton garden jeweller as the area is a bit rough looking at the moment, making a combined canary wharf tower( the first one), gherkin, london bridge, the ball of city hall,
We must come up with something good for all tourists and to project a good image and promote one of our own products. Hatton Garden jewellers, glass makers, the gauntlet is thrown down.
Ps cant be too expensive so if made from glass it would be good. hmm how about a large glass with the air bubbles in them in the shape of the above objects plus a little red white and blue colouring

As a proportion of wealth, surely Boris's gift was the more generous one?

Well... As Eastern-European student I'd like to add that there are some other ways in which we make impact on London apart from plumbing and shooting. Just to mention tens of thousands of us who voted in mayoral elections. Moreover I don't think that Eastern-Europeans would make such an extraordinary present for New York Mayor who has much more of us in his own town. So my suggestion would be - a real englishman - 100% made in england. That is something really rare this days in London.
