Hastings has wandering hands

Hastings

Do you think by any chance that The Daily Mail is using Photoshop in its pictures?

I'd heard that the editor has his hand in everything but this is ridiculous.

If they are using photoshop they are rubbish at it.

reminds me of a photo of Hu Jintao's wife with a third leg when she was in Japan recently....

Posted by: mac | 29 May 2008 22:13:18

My Goodness, surely the most ridiculous aspect of the picture is the gentleman's Terry Wogan style hair/toupee!

Posted by: Ian Glasgow | 29 May 2008 23:19:47

He's got the wig on back to front, that's all. The other hand belongs to Eric Morecambe, whose ghost you can just faintly see behind Max and who is saying, "I can see the join sunshine."

Posted by: eric campbell | 30 May 2008 07:35:09

He is in brighter light than the rest of the picture.

The Mail doesn't have the hand in the picture anymore, but the post on the right is all blurry. So, you gotta hand it to them, crafty bunch, being Brits and all.

He is now leaning his left arm onto empty space. Or may be, his left leg is 10 inches shorter than the right.

Note to Max: when cutting up and burying a corpse in the garden, make sure you don't miss any of the body parts.

that man luks joke!

Posted by: | 30 May 2008 14:59:28

It's not just the hands. Max's entire torso has been narrowed (by pasting in some background) until it's not much wider than the bunch of flowers!

Posted by: Bob | 31 May 2008 08:22:46

It is unbelievable that you can see suppossedly professional authors, commentators and journalists wasting time, money and people's patience withsuch a nonsense.

We then criticize LatAm TV journalism when they publish references to monsters, "chupacabras" and alliens.

Wake up, the world faces huge crisis, try to earn at least the air you're breathing.

Never mind the hands , how many fingers has he got holding the flowers , looks like seven to me.
The other is just a discarded gardening glove...maybe ??

Posted by: katy | 31 May 2008 14:10:39

Looks totally oversharpened too..

Posted by: Phil | 31 May 2008 22:11:13

I think the narrow torso is probably just a result of the flowers being very close to the lens. Creating a dramatic perspective is a good way of making a fairly dull picture (man with flowers) interesting.

Zeev, the point is that if news media are altering pictures, then we cannot trust any pictures we see from that news source. It's a betrayal of trust. Quotes and photos are the evidence that accompany the story and should not be altered in non-meaningful ways no matter how "trivial" the story.

The Mailo not paying attention to the strictest standards of journalistic truth? Surely not!

Max starts rehearsals for his role as Gomez for a new series of the Adams Family.

Posted by: POPEE | 1 Jun 2008 15:23:19

You have no proof whatsoever that the third hand belongs to Mr Hastings.Such Shoddy journalism does you no credit and you will be hearing from my client.

Is Max standing at the gate of the year and waiting to place his hand in the hand of God?
