Faith in America: the map
What happens when you quiz 35,000 Americans about their spiritual beliefs?
All is revealed in the Pew Forum's latest survey. These are always worth a look at and the new one is out this week. Check out these maps. In the first, the darker the state, the stronger its "Belief in God.' In the second, the distribution of Mormons in America.
You'll find more information on these and a goldmine of other data here.

There are some fascinatingly strange results in that survey. Go to page 7 of the PDF report, and we are solemnly informed that 21% of atheists believe in God (and indeed 8% are "absolutely certain" that he exists).
What's more, 12% of atheists believe in heaven, 10% believe in hell, and 10% pray on at least a weekly basis. Something tells me that American atheists aren't really trying hard enough. :-)

Come off it they cannot be atheist if they believe in a god or pray to one.

That is a map of Mormons?! Are you saying there aren't any in California? You map leads people to belive that there are only mormons in half-dozen states. Very untrue.

Here's a lot of money spent pretty much on nothing.
