Paris Hilton for President
She's Paris Hilton and she approves this message because she thinks it's totally hot.
(And you know what? In comparison with some of the ads out there, she may have a point)
UPDATE: Ben Smith has the Obama team response:
Obama spokesman Bill Burton reacts: "Whatever."
Sadly, she would probably do a better job as president than either McCain or Obama. And the white house would look cool in pink.

Ok Well as campaign ads go the sad thing is its not the worst i have seen (this being reserved for the natural law party who advocated crime fighting by the use of "yogic flying". Still shouldnt joke they had graphs man!).
It does actually make a point that compromise is sometimes excluded by the polarisation of views caused by the election process.
But thats incidental to getting her free publicity isnt it?
Take this as what it is - a publicity stunt disguised as a joke. Enjoy it and then forget it.

I AM NOT GOING TO SAY THAT I AM SURPRISED THAT THE PRESS JUMPED ALL OVER THIS PARIS HILTON FOOLISH TRASH. SHE IS OF NO IMPORTANCE BUT THE SHALLOW PUBLIC LOVES IT AND THE MAJOR NEWS SOURCES, WHO LOST THEIR CREDIBILITY DECADES AGO, LOVE SPOON FEEDING THE MASSES THIS DRIVEL. TRY REPORTING THE NEWS, JUST THE NEWS WITHOUT THE PERSONAL MEDIA AGENDA.

Take a chill pill Barbara!
YOU ARE WRITING IN ALL CAPS!
Paris had every right to strike back because they used her image!
And she IS HOT!

Barbara
Calm down, love, calm down.
Posted by: Shirley | 6 Aug 2008 15:48:54
Barbara I am not surprised you would type in all caps which is equal to yelling at us. If you want shallow, scary and on the borderline of Alzheimer's look at John McCain. Now thats scary!
If he wins, it will be because of bigots in this country who would rather elect an ape then a woman or person of a different race .The fat cat white men have almost destroyed this country..Greed rules and law and order is out the window thanks to that jack ass Bush.
Posted by: anonymousee | 6 Aug 2008 16:07:27
Well, sorry some of you are so upset. I hate that we have to be one party or another (or I guess you could have a third party or no political affiliation, but basically...). Unfortunately we have different ideas of what our government should do for us. Should our government be responsible to make sure its citizens are taken care of? Or should the government recognize that people have the freedom to live as they so choose? Or argue with me, whatever...but I think some places like Switzerland are great, where they take care of everyone, but I also think that America should be a country where freedom reigns. Apparently some people a long time ago came and founded this country to be free, so maybe it's important? Anyway, if that makes sense, I just think that's what America should be. And if I were running for president, I would not waste millions of dollars on television ads, I would put that money towards something useful. Like helping people! And I think Paris Hilton's video was funny and her energy policy makes sense...=]
Posted by: elizabeth | 6 Aug 2008 17:39:44
Paris is "totally" funny. The first time I've really laughed during the campaign since Obama defeated Hillary, and probably the last time too.
Posted by: Vicki | 6 Aug 2008 20:56:31
It is sad that a country as significant as the United States has only Obama and McCain to choose from as its president. They both seem shallow and unfit. Where are the people like Kennedy and Lincoln , or atleast like Reagon ?
Posted by: Bhaskar Gollapudi | 6 Aug 2008 23:16:12
Wow! This is amazing, amazing how easily we can get thrown off the real agenda, amazing how our government spends over ten billion a month in Iraq, while people here are going homeless, jobless, bridges falling into rivers killing people trying to make it home from a 9-5 that keeps them living pay-check to pay-check, amazing how here in America so many homes are in darkness because they can't afford to pay the light bill; yet we have potential presidential candidate talking about Britney and Paris. Sad thing about it, she won't suffer at all, no matter what happen to the country in the next eight years.

Posted by: janejane | 7 Aug 2008 03:05:35
This is just too funny. Somehow Paris Hilton is woven into the fabric of our society. From here on out, no matter what serious policy initiatives are released by McCain and Obama, people will be wondering...what would Paris do?
Posted by: Peter | 7 Aug 2008 03:41:27
Never mine McCain and OBAMA .Let me discuss politics with PARIS. Now that
would be more useful.
Posted by: SAM | 7 Aug 2008 04:31:04
Actually that was a great campaign ad. Better than many 'official' candidates' ads.
However, Miss Paris may want to shelve this until the 2016 election. At 27, she is 8 years shy of the Constitutional requirement that all presidents be at least 35 years of age.
But you go, Miss Paris. Peace to you.
Posted by: Jim | 7 Aug 2008 05:26:06
Barbara,
Are all of us, being members of the public, shallow wallow? If true, we should not leave it to mob effect but abolish democracy and simply appoint the BNP and their likes to rule the world. Isn't China doing extremely well according to your conjecture?
Posted by: miamidot | 7 Aug 2008 06:01:46
i am totally voting for paris.
Posted by: nexyjo | 7 Aug 2008 07:11:45
That sort of puts Paris Hilton into a different category of "people" doesn't it? Really quite clever and amusing that little clip, and even quite subtle.
A "getting my own back" move - nice one!
But aside from the off-sidetrack amusement value, I agree with Rude-Boy.

Unfortunately she can't run since she's not 35 years old yet.

I'm still planning to vote for Obama. If he winds up making some huge blunder I will be damn sure to write your name in...as long as you are a democrat. You can count on it.
This is the wake up call we all needed. Thanks!

for once she made more sense than most of the nonsense we have heard from the "old guard" mostly white older males who presume they make good decisions. Why is the US in such a mess because of the above. Maybe Paris can unite the US to get out and vote for real change. I for once enjoyed what she had to say. Well Done.
Posted by: Ann | 8 Aug 2008 01:09:26
Paris running for president raises the question who is smarter Paris or Bush? And then by association who is smarter Paris or More-of-the-same McCain? The answer to this question is Paris! I would love to see a debate between Paris and McCain, just to prove this point. Of course Obama is a real states-man. McCain is a hawke and if you want another war or two vote McCain. If you want beauty and intellect vote for Paris or Obama.
Posted by: Paul Buckley | 8 Aug 2008 03:37:03
I've been so disappointed that our "independent" country has somehow dictated our choice of 2 extrodinarily substandard candidates to select from for our new President, that I keep dreaming of moving away! But finally, someone (and of all people) GOT IT! Paris is down to earth, attractive, approachable, sensible, pleasant, humorous and willing to listen & take advise from others. If she were to REALLY run for President, that's where my vote would go. PARIS FOR PRESIDENT! Please!

I Love Paris in the Fall
I love Paris in the springtime.
I love Paris in the fall.
I love Paris when she’s drilling, it’s so thrilling.
I love Paris when she’s winning, pundits spinning.
I love Paris in her lawnchair,
every inch of her so dear.
I love Paris, why, oh why do I love Paris?
Because her policy is clear.
Posted by: Cole's Muse | 8 Aug 2008 13:44:57
PARIS 4 PRES !!!
She has most certainly got my vote on the strength of her energy plan alone.
And to all the doubters, . .WHY NOT ?
1) She's not senile.
2) She's not part of the immensely corrupt Chicago Democratic political machine
3) She obviously has some very astute people working with her in the background.
4) She has access to some of the best brains in America through her family and social connections.
So ... WHY NOT ?
Not that anyone believes that Paris herself would be the decider on major issues. But then, Does anyone believe that Bush is either ?
She has all the right credentials to be taken as a serious candidate in America.
1) She comes from a Power Family (= Bush)
2) She has youth (= Obama)
3) She comes from the L.A./Hollywood Glitz World ( = Regan)
4) She has Youth Appeal ( =J.F.K.)
With the RIght Team behind her . .WHY NOT ??
Posted by: Ian Ward | 8 Aug 2008 13:56:20
Why Not? I'd vote for her, but she can't run. The Constitution requires you to be 35 years of age.
Give her about 8 more years and I will vote for her (or possibly "NO") for president.
Posted by: Jenny J | 8 Aug 2008 15:17:39
Paris Hilton is no genius, but even as a moderately intelligent person she obviously outclasses the intellectual prowess of McCain and Bush. The GOP truly has become the Stupid Party.

Paris Hilton certainly could not do any worse than President Bush and Co. Only better, perhaps much better. In her responding in the way she has, she shows that she's got what it takes to get in the political ring. She has an excellent opportunity here to take that put down phrase "dumb blond" and ever so politely and with finesse shove it right up the establishment's a##! I would never vote for McCain even if he were the only candidate. I was leaning towards Obama, but now that Paris has made her "declaration", I'm going to write her name on my ballot in November as though she were standing right next to me, with the best penmanship I can deliver. So there, establishment, I'm going to make my "vote" count for someone who is "real" and has no "agenda" other than being who she is. As you can see in her promo, she doesn't wear any mask, nor much clothing, either. And that says volumes more than Bush, McCain, and Obama, all who are well adept in wearing audience-appealing masks and are well appointed in their display of clothing, but naked as naked can be - more naked than Paris relaxing in her bikini as displayed above in her promo. Paris, you've got my vote this November.

Probably not thought of by her but she actually says what is common sense. Oil and Natural Gas is all around the United States. I love solar and wind, but we need, as a world economy, to actually make it there without destroying our national economy.

Posted by: Jeff | 10 Aug 2008 16:39:36
I can't believe I am reading about Paris' political statement and reactions to it.... I mean, Arnie Terminator did it before in the country of the American Dream.... you know... so y not Paris. But as a few sadly mentioned that issue, I suggest Paris sends a petition to AMEND the constitution so that this "discrimination based on age" ends now! Totally! and this constitutional amendment should be done by text message. The whole States will have a say. She could run as independent. And never mind her assumed small IQ, she just proved to the world that she can recite. What more do you expect from a Leader of the Free World? She will get a good Hollywood director(Spielberg will do just o.k) to recruit some brains here and there, and some really good soap scriptwriters... And that's it! God bless America!

I'LL VOTE FOR HER, MUCH BETTER THEN WHAT THE TWO PARTIES ARE OFFERING!
Posted by: bob | 11 Aug 2008 16:27:22
Rarely does a national campaign contain decent humor. That's why it's news-worthy. Paris is probably smarter than Bush, but not anywhere near as apt for president. And the other two dudes are inarguably better than Bush in multiple respects.
I actually feel if she did win, despite her ego, she wouldn't let herself be sworn in; it would be a huge dent in her career to be president.
Posted by: Daniel | 11 Aug 2008 17:16:43
"down to earth, attractive, approachable, sensible, pleasant, humorous"
None of these are qualifications for president. People also thought Bush was the better candidate because he struck them like he might "have a beer with" them.
People, your president needs to be intelligent, decisive, flexible, quick-witted, and intensely focused on our goals. Exactly not like someone you could chat with for more than 120 seconds, because he/she should find you boringly pedestrian. He or she should strike fear into those who cannot be inspired by any other means, while inspiring the rest to action, thereby demonstrating a strong direction based on a realistic understanding of facts. The democratic process unfortunately produces little strong direction in an effort to seek wide support.

Stop giving this skank stoochie props.
Posted by: TJ | 12 Aug 2008 03:02:56
Unfortunately, she's not old enough to be president. Because if she tossed her hat in the ring for real, she'd likely win. People are sick of the status quo, and despite Obama's rhetoric, he's more of the same. Slicker about his presentation, but every bit the unprincipled, doubletalking politician. Paris would win, not because she is such a great candidate, but because people would vote for her to voice their frustration at the other choices are have been forced into.

One who will tell you whatever you want to hear, and one that cant hear! This is proof that these two parties have nothing left to offer America except more of the same capital slavery with decaying infastructure and more useless wars.
Paris! America waits your brilliant leadership! & Hotness of course!

Similar to Paris and Brit, Obama's brain has been increasing lately in size due to his high celebrity status placed by the no brainy media. Thoug, Paris got the joke and cool for her, but please I do not want her as my president either. this joke is getting bored already.
Posted by: pat | 12 Aug 2008 20:54:44
Jeeez ... is there no humour left in this world? Instead of playing along on the same low level with the political establishment, such as suing McCain etc., she produces her own "retaliation" ad, which is very funny and self-ironic! Shows she's totally above this sh*t. And I never thought I would say such a thing: bravo Paris!!!
Posted by: Maximilian | 12 Aug 2008 21:36:33
Paris gets MY vote. She made more sense in two minutes that McCain and Obama have in two year, and YES, SHE IS HOT. But, since she can't be President for 8 more years, then you have to chose between one candidate who is lawyer married to a bitch who is a lawyer, and the other candidate who is an ex fighter pilot who has a wife WHO IS HOT, she owns a BEER DISTRIBUTERSHIP, and she has BIG BREASTS!!! Now seriously, is there a contest here?
