I have been exposed. A few weeks ago, I volunteered in the Body&Soul office to be a guinea pig for one of the new moisturisers that include fake tan. Very nice it was too. As the days went by, I developed a magic brown glow. Then, to wipe the sun kissed smile from my face, I received an email from Jane Crabtree to say: “I am surprised to see Eco-Worrier Anna Shepard being a guinea pig for a fake tan. Are they safe?”

Bad news on the water front; it’s worse than we thought. Nearly two months ago, we were talking hosepipe bans and compulsory water meters. Now, the Environment Agency has called on Thames Water and other companies in the South East, South West, Midlands and Wales to ban all non-essential use of water.

Of all the obstacles to thwart our path to a greener life, the plastic bag takes prime position. Right up there on top of all other imaginable eco-evils. Well, almost all. There's too many of the blighters, there's no doubt about that. 50 per cent of the litter found on our coast is made up of plastic bags and the estimates of how many millions we get through in the UK every year are so wild and disturbing, I'm not even going to go there.
