Fancy whacking this guy with the Stern report?

Bush_1Click here to hit climate change deniers on the head. This game is addictive and I'm unbelievably bad at it. I keep bashing David Attenborough by mistake. So far, 26 is my top score. I don't believe that Jonathan Porritt got 196 as the Hall of Fame suggests. Has anyone else got anywhere near that? If you're confused, I recommend you try it out for yourself.

Thank you to my colleague Camilla Cavendish for providing me with this important way of spending an afternoon.

I can't get beyond 40 points! I keep whacking the good peeps! :(

I scored 76% in the green quiz though so I'm not all bad!

Posted by: Al Holland | 18 Dec 2006 10:41:10

Sneaky suggestion from the designers – you can hit them more than once if you’re quick. But beware…the high scorers have all got RSI!

Posted by: Soli Townsend | 18 Dec 2006 17:35:40

I always thought 'denier' referred to the mesh size in ladies stockings: would'nt 'deniar' be a better spelling?!

Anyhow, climate change is like taxes, death and migration - perennial events, that tax (er.. sorry) us all.

It could be caused by a change in solar activity and /or sun-spot activity.
Or, by an anomaly in the part of the galaxy we happen to be passing through on our rotation around it's centre.
Or, by the precession of the earth's N-S axis, which has a cycle of some 22000 years, and is associated with the recurrent ice-age phenomena.

Carbon dioxide is a green-house gas and is exhaled all and every time living creatures breathe, plants vary with sunlight...
One could literally make remarks about hot air and population explosions in this context, but then 'Greenpeace' is a oxymoron!

Ahem, yes thanks for that john gregory Flinn. Denier is indeed stocking related. Thing with this blog business is there are no sub-editors on the hunt for typos. I need people like you to keep me in check.

Green Eating
The December Ecoworrier article about the damage done to the environment by the beef industry set me thinking. It is tempting to assume that the carbon emissions and cattle methane production could be checked if we all turned vegetarian. But give up my carnivore status? That sounds a bit extreme to me, and leads to an intriguing green alternative. Suppose we reinstated cannibalism - firstly the need for beef farming would be reduced and secondly the human population would be brought under control, leading to still less beef consumption, and eventually ridding the planet of its most destructive mammals.....
Yours, B. Feater.
Cannabalism aside, if man does not stop wrecking the planet, then nature will bring the human race down to size. A flu pandemic might be quicker than AIDS and more effective than earthquakes, tsunamis & volcanic eruptions. Mother Nature has plenty of options at her disposal. Homo sapiens has had his chance (and blown it?).

If we greens are supposed to be happy people, why should we expend time and energy whacking people, even metaphorically?
