Some weekend reading...
Does the decline of religion matter? George W. Bush's former chief speech writer Michael Gerson reflects, in the Washington Post (i love the line about Thor). A similar social concern from atheist Simon Jenkins here in the UK, endearingly indignant about the Pope's declaration on the Church of England. Faith and happiness dissected in the Economist; ever more topical a theme now that "wellbeing" is a political target; and more American reflection on the Democrats' assault on the faith vote. Another lapidary line - "A president has to be a preacher of sorts, instructing, consoling, summoning citizens to sacrifice for some common good. But candidates are competitors, which means they seldom manage to talk about faith in a way that doesn't disturb people, doesn't divide them, doesn't nail campaign posters on the gates of heaven".
No wonder Ali Campbell said "We don't do God...".

Too many times religious leaders impose thoughts of ego instead of thoughts "for the people"...Sad but true. So what sermon is the US President and Prime Minister been listening too? Have to be sermons, egos and advantage found in man not of Divine and Spirit..
Nice article..Libby
