Condi and the Afghan death sentence
Condoleeza Rice, the US Secretary of State, has raised the pressure on President Karzai (still silent) by promising to raise the case of the Afghan student sentenced to death because he circulated an article questioning the position of women in Islam. For background see earlier post. One petition is here.

It would be nice if Condi would call for the abolition of the death penalty in the USA too.

Alan;
Regarding Your Remark Regarding Condi Rice Advocating Getting Rid Of The Death Penalty. Here In The US It Is Not A Federal Law Rather Each Individual State Can Vote For Or Against The Death Penalty. There Currently About 12 Or 14 States Where The Death Penalty Is No Longer In Effect. As For Condi Rice This Lady Is One Smart Lady. If She Ran Against Hillary Clinton For Prez Condi Would Easily Win.....

Rick - I'm being serious. I know the death penalty is not a federal but a state matter. But according to your figures, there must be morre than forty states where capital punishment still does exist.
Are you for it or against it? Is Condi for it or against it - in the USA, I mean?
She's undeniably intelligent. But is that the same as "smart"?
