Nun saves burning man with her habit

Warriornunareala Inspiring little story in the Scottish DAily Record,  from Italy.  Sister Donatella Ciucciumei saw an elderly man douse himself in petrol in a street in San Severino Marche.  She ran towards him, and as the flames engulfed him she leapt on top of him and used her thick habit to douse the fire. She was unhurt, he is recovering,  and she visits him daily to cheer him up.  He was  depressed because his wife left him. Proves, among other things, that the more modern orders of nuns were wrong to dump the flapping habit in favour of tedious tweeds.

The illustration, in Sr. Donatella's honour, is another from that fine website revealing the religious affiliation of comic book characters.  Warrior Nun Areala was a 'real nun' who fought evil on behalf of the Vatican.  In a garter.  Her creators were genuinely devout.  So we are told.

Libby;

I Remember The Dedicated Nuns who taught me in school a Long Long time ago. They also wore the long black dresses with white Habits.

Nuns have a Maternal instinct so it is no surprise The nun mentioned helped to save this man.

The Next thing however is The Vatican MAY make her into another Mother Teresa Because they currently lack a Herione to showcase. This is excellent Publicity for the media-savvy Vatican. Can we expect now to see this Nun all over the Media? The Papparazzi snapping her every move ala Paris Hilton..Britney Spears Etc? Stay tuned!

Libby, the Sisters aways value human life, it is a shame that troubled man doesn't seek council among the Monks and Nuns..Gracias

Brother Enrique;
What's wrong with Seeking Council from the Creator of everything..Jesus Christ? Can you name One Nun or Monk Or even The Pope who has more infinite Knowledge then Jesus?
I Really Have To laugh inside when I read where Supposedly "Christians" Recommend every solution under The Sun and never Mention Jesus as FIRST choice...Amen.

Hermano Rick,
I do not see a humble man by what I see you post. I pray that you see Christ was called Immanuel for one, everyone can cuz Jesus including yourself! There is no place when it says the angel changed our Lord's name, and SI! I pray to Him! When have you sat Rick,in a monastery, hospital or been in poverty for any length of time? You should try it, it will teach you a vauable leason about life.
There are many teachers on earth, all are Divinely placed, that is the Greatness of the Father. Man earthly goals must be to follow Christ. Only through our Lord Immanuel can you get listen to the Essence of the Father.
Gracias por Dioz

While the story of the nun and heroic feat is a touching one, does it not bother anybody else that the nun in the comic has been modified for sex appeal? Aren't nuns celibate? I find this a little degrading (though it is a fact I have long been familiar with) that the nun had to be "sexed up".
Also, after reading the comments by brother Enrique and other on the first page I have to wonder, why believe such nonsense? Do people really believe that believing in God or Jesus or whomever will heal all wounds caused here in reality? The nun, a human being, would have been a good person (or could have been) with out without a fictitious savior in her life. I'll offend somebody, I know, but I can't help but express myself.

Wow. Can someone say Feminist? As much as I try to support women(I am minoring in Women's Studies), yes I agree this comic is sexing up a nun. It's a comic book. What do you expect?
"Do people really believe that believing in God or Jesus or whomever will heal all wounds caused here in reality?" - While I know that my wounds have not all been healed, just having the belief in a higher power and that someday I will be healed gives me hope everyday - sometimes just enough to get through the day.
Wow, hun, feel sorry for ya. One question .. if God and Jesus are so fictitious .. who made the ground you walk on every day? And I'm asking for the non-scientific answer here obviously.
