Ooh la la! Islamic cabaret hits town in Marrakech and offends nobody
Aficionados of cabaret, burlesque, music-hall and club acts may have been feeling a little sad for generations at the thought that such delights are banned to those whose faith is Muslim and whose governments take it seriously. Weep no more. A splendid Frenchman called Claude Thomas , veteran of Reno and Las Vegas,has created a cabaret revue in Marrakech, guaranteed Islam-friendly and free from vulgar g-strings. Just look at it... Les Folies de Marrakech shows, he says 'beautiful bodies', while hiding them. " I’m offering a dream while still respecting the country’s culture". He offers not only high kicks but magicians, acrobats, pirates, a falconer, dance, music and comedy. There are in-house Islamic consultants keeping things pure.
“One day, I had asked them to hold their arms in second position (resembling a curved cross), but they refused because they said it was too much like the Christ. So I told them to lift their arms
higher,” said the choreographer Santiago Martinez cheerfully.

I can just envision the Late Ed Sullivan Variety show in New York;
"And Now tonite on our Really Big Shew..We Have Abdul And Sayef from Pakistan making their TV Debut..Singing an Elton John Hit.."Rocket Man". Let's Give them a Wave Offering!!
