Fake priest caught in confessional

Confessionalblog385x185_2 Bess writes: A bizarre case of identity fraud has surfaced in the Vatican: the Osservatore Romano, the official Vatican newspaper, reports that a fake priest was caught in St Peter’s Basilica attempting to enter the confessional box. The 30-year-old man was subsequently sentenced in a special Vatican court. And, according to this morning's papers, the sentencing judge discovered he was a serial offender. Gianluigi Marrone, one a handful of judges employed at the court, explained: "He had priest's robes on but to the expert eye of our security staff he raised suspicions, He was acting strangely and so he was stopped and checked. He had an identity card which said he was a priest but a quick check established it was bogus. Investigations revealed that he had done the same in churches on Italian territory and so he was charged with usurping an ecclesiastical title."

So impersonating someone who claims to have supernatural authority is an offence, while an organisation that claims its employees have it and takes money from gullible members of the public commits no offence?
What an odd world we live in!

Strictly speaking, all priests are fakes.

Posted by: alan | 10 Jul 2008 08:46:51

Bess;
I agree with Stuart and Alan.

The RCC fleeces Millions every year from "Apparition-Holy sites" Graven Image devotion the list is endless! They should have given the Bogus Priest a Handshake and a Parish to go to since he is a Good actor like all of them in Rome are.

Consider this; If the RCC was accused of being a Christian Church....would there be enough evidence to convict them?

Posted by: Rick Beekman | 10 Jul 2008 22:39:17

Rik,

If peolple call themselves Christians, act like Christians and believe in fairy tales, like Christians......................Thenthey're probably Christians.

Just becuase your curch interprets the text differently, doen't make it any less of a myth.

John;
Can you give me just one example where I have "Misquoted" scripture to you or anyone else? If I have I'm not aware of it. If however I have point it out exactly..and if I am wrong I will apologize fair enough?
Blessings!

Rik,

I didn't say you'd "misquoted" anything. Your beliefs and the RCC's are different. The fact that they are different doesn't make either version of those myths true in my eyes.

So you didn't really make any sense.....Not for the first time and unfortunately I fear, not for the last. Fair enough?

Blessings

- Rick Beekman, 10 JUL 2008, 22:39:17

Not only enough evidence, Mr Beekman, but also no conviction, because the prosecutors would not bother with a trial. As in China today, our bishops are jailed without due process of law and kept incommunicado, enduring forced labour and torture. I don't think you would enjoy having your feet encased in blocks of ice, right? Why do they suffer like this?Because they remain steadfastly loyal to our Holy Father, the Pope. Try becoming a real Christian like these men, Mr Beekman, instead of belching your hatred of them.

Posted by: Geoffrey Smith | 17 Jul 2008 17:51:20

Geoffrey;
I was not addressing my cooments regarding the people held in China Geoff so stop with Selling your "Guilt" to me..I don't buy Guilt. I was speaking as a Former Catholic who sees the RCC as what it really is.
And what it really is...A Pagan-Jewish OT Religion.Pseudo Christian Religion filled with Bloodshed and political intrigue and shenanigans trying to appear "Righteous" to the gullible followers. How's That?

If they really serve Jesus Geoff Why are they a Member of The United Nations? The UN is about as corrupt as it gets. God never wanted his Church or Ministry to "Hob-knob" with Politicians. If He Did Why did'nt he get "Cozy" with Pontius Pilate who had the power to not hand him over to the Jewish Religious-Politicians?

Because you do not know God's Word you are Blinded by RCC teachings which the Bible refutes. Speaking of China...did you also know hundreds of years ago the RCC was once welcomed in China? then they "Converted" one of the emporers relatives..who started to try and convert all the chinese to the RCC that it infuriated the Emporer and he booted the RCC out. So Did Japan when they tried to overtake them. The RCC is a Militant religion. They only care about what The Vatican wants which usually is Political/Financial control in the Disguise of "Christianity"...A real Joke bloke!

Always remember one thing, Rick: you owe the sheer existence of the Bible to the Catholic Church, who gave it to the world at the Council of Carthage II (497). You have only the say-so of the Church that the Bible is the word of God to support your belief in it. Nothing more, nothing else. Without the Catholic Church you have nothing. No Bible, no grace, no salvation. Absolutely nothing. To paraphrase Isaiah, you are still living in a great darkness.
