"Evil" Mickey Mouse...

Bess writes: It’s official: Mickey Mouse is “evil”. “One of Satan’s soldiers” in fact, who makes everything he touches “impure”. Or so claims Sheikh Muhammad Munajid, the Saudi imam asked to relay Islamic teaching on mice during a religious affairs show broadcast on the Arab television channel Al-Majd. His comments, as translated by the American press monitoring service, the Middle East Media Research Institute, ran as follows:
“The mouse is one of Satan's soldiers and is steered by him.
If a mouse falls into a pot of food – if the food is solid, you should chuck out the mouse and the food touching it, and if it is liquid – you should chuck out the whole thing, because the mouse is impure.
"According to Islamic law, the mouse is a repulsive, corrupting creature. How do you think children view mice today – after Tom and Jerry?  Even creatures that are repulsive by nature, by logic, and according to Islamic law have become wonderful and are loved by children. Even mice. Mickey Mouse has become an awesome character, even though according to Islamic law, Mickey Mouse should be killed in all cases."

And last month Mr Munajid claimed, in reference to the Olympics, that nothing pleased Satan more than a skimpily clad female athletes. Read the original report on the imam and Mickey in  the Telegraph.

Sheikh Muhammad Munajid is backward man. Islam has nothing to do with his words.
This is my opinion as Muslim convert from Argentina

The reason we have to wear clothing is to protect ourselves from the impure thoughts of others. I think nothing pleases Mr. Munajid more than skimpily-clad female athletes because those who scream the loudest are usually the most guilty of whatever it is they're screaming about. The inability of extreme Islamist men to take responsibility for their own thoughts floors me. I shouldn't have to wear a bag in order to keep his mind out of the gutter, but if I had to be in his presence, I think I'd prefer the bag because I don't want anyone like him thinking about what he'd like to do to me given the opportunity. I should be able to do a Lady Godiva down Main Street without some primate thinking he's entitled to help himself or make me feel ashamed of the way God made me. And, by the way, what makes people who force genital mutilation on children think they can improve the way God made us?

One of our greatest God-given gifts is free will. Refusing to train one's free will to look toward the light or subjugating one's free will to another human is a slap in the face to the One who gave it.

Pointing fingers at cartoons and whatever else they can get their paws on is just a smoke screen to distract everyone's attention from the fact that these maniacs want nothing more than to control everyone else because they can't control themselves and to call it the "will of God." Who wants to talk about their propagandistic films aimed at children using a story-book rabbit - another rodent - to teach their children to hate and kill anyone who's different from themselves, emphasis on Israelis and Americans? These lunatics are guilty of everything for which they point their crooked fingers at everyone else and then some.

The Middle East Media Research Istitute (MEMRI) was founded by an Israeli with rather "extreme" views, and it is generally regarded to be an Israeli propaganda machine, with "imaginative" translations reported at times. I take this article with a pinch of salt.

Who is Sheikh Muhammad Munajid that he warrants our attention? What else has he done apart from spout nonsense about the so-called Islamic view of Mickey Mouse? Does he have a large following on this or any other topic?

I don't mean to suggest that the press remain silent, but it strikes me as absurd that this man, of all people in Saudi Arabia, should have his views aired.

I mean seriously, why didn't we hear anything about Wajiha al-Huwaider, the amazing woman who performed a solo protest demanding equal rights for Saudi women? Surely she was far more news worthy than this silly pratt.

I can Just see The Late Walt Disney Smiling about All This. His Little Creation..Mickey Is beloved by Children Worldwide. Not to mention The Billions Spent Each Year By Parents who bring Their Children to Disney World/Disneyland here in America...Europe and Asia.
As Elmer Fudd Would Say about This.."This is cwazy..Just plain wediculous"!!

I'm sure the Sheikh would be a lot happier if Disney rebranded him as Mohammed Mouse.
