50 angst-ing days to Christmas: Oxford leads the way
Ah, the wonders of the Internet! A small brouhaha in Oxford - renaming the Christmas seasonal jamboree as a "Winter Lights" festival instead of Christmas - has spread across the globe, from the Oxford Mail to the Times of India. Which reports, with some glee, that both Imams and Rabbis have been just as outraged at the mealy-mouthed Council as any Christian. Everyone loves Christmas! they say. It's part of being British! God bless us all, cries Tiny Tim! And actually, if you look closely, you discover that there will be carol services involved in the city's winterlight multiculti knees-up of the next two months.
So with due acknowledgement of cartoonist Peter Bellingham's website (buy buy buy) here is my favourite joke about Christmas and the city of dreaming spires...

Libby ,you well know that the Christian religion replaced the festivals of winter and spring for their own benefit. Christ was actually born on February 23rd.
