You couldn't make it up!

At the end of last season, Sky TV axed long running footy drama/soap Dream team. Reasons for this were unconfirmed, but the general consensus was that it was too far fetched.

If anyone's interested we've got hold of the synopsis for this season's rejected series. Rumour has it that this was based on real life events, but that's just madness.

- The once proud club is languishing close to the bottom of the Championship and seemly being bled dry by shadowy businessmen (we'll get them in court later in the series).

- The club is purchased by heroic local businessmen who install a nasty, careerist manager who gets results. No-one likes him, he doesn't care.

- The club unexpectedly end up 8 points clear at the top of the league in February but then implode and have to settle for the pay offs. Rumours that the manager is leaving are constant as are "insider leaks" of unrest in the boardroom.

- The club beat two superior teams to get promotion back to the Premier League (one on penalties one at Wembley!). On the pitch at Wembley, In his hour of glory, the aforementioned manager announces he might leave and his contract is up in the air.

- Due to outright naivety and rumours that the previous heroic owners are more interested in development opportunities around the ground, the club have a disaster in the transfer market and make a rake of poor quality signings.

- The season starts and the team get mullered by everyone: 0-4 Spurs, 0-6 Liverpool, 0-5 Arsenal. Then they sign a £3m striker on deadline day, he scores a 30-yard screamer on his debut and the club win our first game.

- The club is sold again, this time to a football entrepreneur who promises to bring in billions of US investment. He very quickly falls out with the manager and the manager is sacked.

- A new experienced Premier League coach is bought in. He's a decent chap & his honest, amusing banter is a breath of fresh air although results do not improve. The club is taken over by Americans!

- A midfielder who has fell out of favour gets depressed. He narrowly escapes death when he is found asleep at the wheel of his car in the middle of the M1!

- The transfer window opens. Several new players are signed including one of the most hated opposition players in recent club history. He is made captain.

- After some heroic last minute defeats, the club are hammered in the cup 1-4 at home by a lower league club. Can things get any worse?

- The club are relegated, but by way of some clever spin every game continues to sell out and the fans are very optimistic about the future of the club as a top 10 premiership team.

- The News of the World  get hold of an home made sex tape starring the aforementioned "honest and decent" coach playing away form his wife and two kids. The future of the club is again in doubt as months of planning are potentially down the drain.

Any truth the club's name is going to be officially changed to DERBY COUNTY NIL?

Least the manager has been scoring regularly than the forwards then...
