United's Global Travels - next up the Super Cup
We all have come to accept that the Premier League is a global force now, and that means trips all over the world for teams like Man United. I've been lucky enough to accompany the lads on trips all over the place, not just in the Champions League but also on preseasons to destinations including New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Amsterdam. And this season there is also the Super Cup and the upcoming December games in Tokyo to consider.
Most fans, understandably, cannot even consider going to these games and for those who do all the domestic trips it is weird to suddenly find yourself watching the lads on TV. In that situation you want somewhere with a good atmopshere, but not the local pub with the guaranteed idiots making inane comments. Unfortunately United don't screen anything at Old Trafford, so that left a void for fans to fill themselves. For May's big game in Moscow, MUST- the independent Manchester United supporters' trust, decided to hire a bar to screen the match. Deals were done on beer and food, special techie equipment was brought in, and it sold out in hours. So they put on a new venue as well, and as that sold out they did another, and so on. A whole host of bars were rammed full of Reds- some amongst MUST's 30k members and others who just like the sound of it- and venues all over the city replicated the atmopshere in Russia.
And now they are doing the same for the Super Cup in Monaco. £3 for a fantastic atmosphere surrounded by loyal Reds sounds like a plan for those who cannot be there. Click here for more details.
