Ironically, my son who's 8 with Downs Syndrome has a tumour removed from his back this summer. The surgeon was fascinated as it was the first time he'd found a solid tumour on a child with DS. Fortunately it's benign; maybe without the extra 21, we may have been looking at something far worse.

Fascinating! Amazing to think this was known since the fifties but only now are we understanding why.
