Bank Holiday C&G cricket

Nottinghamshire made short work of Scotland at Trent Bridge, chasing down 192 for the loss of one wicket with all but ten overs to spare.

Daryl Mitchell took four Lancashire wickets but Worcestershire could only manage one more as the visiting side reached 248 in 50 overs. In reply, Worcestershire subsided to 129 all out with Tom Smith taking three for 17.

Gloucestershire bounced back from losing to Ireland on Sunday, making 328 for eight (Ian Harvey 112) and then bowling out Somerset for 199

Ireland put up a valiant fight against Glamorgan, coming within 16 runs of a second upset in two days. Despite Shahid Afridi making 54, the target of 251 was too high.

Dale Benkenstein made 63 not out and took three for 42 as Durham passed Northamptonshire's 195 for seven with the loss of six men.

Leicestershire made light work of chasing a revised target of 116 set by Warwickshire. The two Darrens, Maddy and Robinson, put on 104 for the first wicket and although three wickets fell, the home side won comfortably.

Jade Derbach and Ian Salisbury were the heroes for Surrey, taking three wickets each as they won by one run against Kent. Neil Dexter with 94 off 72 balls was not able to lay the bedrock for a Kent win in a game shortened to 30 overs a side.

Murray Goodwin made 88 not out as Sussex chased down 201 in 40 overs against Middlesex, winning with two balls to spare.

Two Ashes rivals united to stop Essex at the Rose Bowl. Kevin Pietersen made 98 off 74 balls as Hampshire reached 257 for nine in 49 overs, then Shane Warne took two late wickets as the home side fell eight runs short.
