And the winner is Loughborough
Bragging rights in the common room was at stake in the final of the BUSA Cricket Championships at the end of last week as for the first time in the competition's history the final was contested by two teams from the same university. Loughborough Students (effectively the university's second team) upset the odds by beating Loughborough UCCE, one of the six MCC University Centres of Cricketing Excellence.
The UCCE lost the toss and were asked to bat, reaching 201 for nine in their 50 overs, Chris Murtagh, brother of Tim, the Surrey all-rounder, making 40. Loughborough Students, who had beaten Cardiff UCCE in the semi-final, chased hard and Barbar Khan, the man of the match, struck the winning runs as he finished on 41 not out.
