Quote of the day

Michael Atherton revealed a potty-mouth when accepting a gong yesterday from the Royal Television Sports Awards on behalf of the Channel 4/Sunset+Vine cricket team. As the production company won their umpteenth award of the night, Atherton told the audience: "Before I joined Channel 4 I played for a team that won f*** all for 15 years."

The Cambridge-educated, Tarantino-scripted views of Atherton can now be heard on Sky Sports, presumably not with sign language.

I would love to meet Athers one day...a cousin of mine did meet him once at Headingley in 2002 (test match against India, Day 2), and according to her, Athers was simply amazing. He, first of all, let her and her friend inside the stadium without tickets (telling the security that they were with him!!), and also let them spend the entire day in the media box, and saw to it that they ate well too (putting major emphasis on the ice-cream, and loads of it)!!! Boy, didn't they have fun that day or what!!
