Vaughan free

Nothing like a bit of beautiful batting to bring out the uber-geek in me. That collection of flashing cover-drives and flicks down to fine leg (how reminiscent of his golden year in 2002) by Michael Vaughan made up his first first-class hundred at Headingley (his home ground lest you forget) for exactly six years. On May 25, 2001, against Northants Vaughan made 133 for Yorkshire and has had nada since. Mind you, he's barely played there.

Agreed, Patrick - great to see him back, and I was one who had my doubts about him coming straight back into the side. Having been at work all day and seen none of the innings live I've just caught up with the Sky highlights and the bowling and fielding does appear to have been moderate, to put it kindly. But, given what he's been through I think he deserved a break.

A headline writer's dream - you went for 'Vaughan Free', I settled for 'Vaughan Again'...
