Arrrggghhhhh-zat?

PosterThere are many films in cricket that are guaranteed to give nightmares: England in the 2007 World Cup, David Lloyd being hit in the nuts by Jeff Thomson, England in the 2003 World Cup, Mike Gatting receiving a bouncer in the nose from Malcolm Marshall, England in the 1999 World Cup...

But now comes a real horror film about cricket: I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer (cert 18) is being screened at the Odeon West End in London tomorrow night, 9pm, as part of the Film4 FrightFest series. Go and see it... if you dare. Tickets available here.

The blurb says: "Mass murder? It’s just not cricket! Be bowled over Down Under by a vengeance-crazed serial killer with an impressive moustache in Stacey Edmonds and Doug Turner’s co-directed comedy horror. After bullying endured two decades earlier at an exclusive boy’s school, someone is using an arsenal of razor-fingered cricket gloves, sharpened stumps and nailed balls to slash their old team to ribbons. But which of the remaining eleven is the ‘Pommie bastard psycho’ spoilsport? Detective Inspector Kim Reynolds gets them together to find the answer."

There is even a trailer:

And I thought that a slashing cut was something that you only played to a ball outside off stump.

I met up with the guys from FrightFest when I was out in Cannes earlier this year and they mentioned this one. Been on my hit list to watch ever since and now I'm likely to be working tomorrow night. Aaaargh!
