The Pietersen Index - final price
All week I have been looking at the Pietersen Index, a measure of the state of the British economy based on how much money Kevin Pietersen could earn in the Stanford game this weekend when $1 million is converted into pounds. Here is the final analysis. Now go and win it, boys.
Pietersen Index at 6pm on Friday, October 31, is DOWN £2,019 to £619,326 on the 3pm figure. Overall, the Index is DOWN almost £30,000 on its peak, but that is still more than £100,000 up on what $1 million would have bought six months ago.
It is with great pleasure to see that Pietersen failed to get the £619,326 in his final update in the Pietersen Index. Given that he gallavants around London in his Aston Martin with the roof down, he clearly is not short of cash and given that he complained about the conditions of playing at the 20/20 for 20, he is a sore loser! South Africa must be happy to have got rid of him.

The decline in price is nothing compared to what Jimmy Anderson has just lost. Can someone explain to me that when you have Broad and Swann at 9 and 10 why you need a spectaculary average player such as Luke Wright in the team. He's not likely to bowl (7th choice at best), if he bats it's because we are in trouble and his fielding is no better than Anderson's. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot

Does anyone now think that Brewsters (oops sorry) STANFORD'S millions is a good idea?
The floodlights are too low, the wicket is as bouncy as a sand pit and the SAS is doing hands on training with the WAGS
What price an indecent proposal?

What a friggen piss poor joke this is.
Here's blokes who play the ultimate form of the game in front of 5 people when they go to South Africa and in front of 'free-bus' school-kids in India, but they get a lifetime of money for playing a match that would be equally entertaining if contested by Grade cricketers.
Fool's Gold.
Still, the market speaks. I guess this is how we've ended up with McDonald's described as a 'restaurant' and Big Brother as 'educational'.
To think, there's probably people out there who love T20, but who think that the moon landings were a contrived PR stunt. No fooling them, is there?

Surely KP is on the verge of pulling out of this circus. After his quotes about Neil Carter he clearly has no time for this sort of thing. A player signing for a short period for a side to make lots of money? "It's a disgrace really."
Is that the IPL calling?
