The Line and Length Monday XI - answers

I'm back in Britain and normal blogging will resume later. In the meantime, click the link below for the answers to this week's quiz on a theme of 'Africa'.

Question 1 How many England cricket captains were born in South Africa? Name them.

Question 2 Who were South Africa's first Test opponents after being readmitted in 1992?

Question 3 Which opening batsman was the first South African to score a Test hundred after readmission?

Question 4 Aside from the three African teams in the ICC full one-day rankings, which is the highest rated African country?

Question 5 In which African country was this year's ICC World Cricket League Division 4 held?

Question 6 Which former England one-day cricketer, who plays for Glamorgan, captained MCC's side on their tour to Uganda this year?

Question 7 Which England all-rounder's father played for East Africa in the 1975 World Cup and was killed later that year in a car crash?

Question 8 In which year did South Africa win the ICC Champions Trophy?

Question 9 Who are the only two Zimbabweans to score more than 3,000 runs in Test cricket?

Question 10 To date, there have been six one-day internationals between an all-Asia XI and an all-Africa XI, in 2005 and 2007. What is the overall score between the sides?

Question 11 Now this should be a toughie. Believe it or not, there have been seven official one-day internationals staged in Morocco, in a triangular tournament in 2002 involving South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Which South African was the only batsman to score a hundred?

Hi Philip
D'Oliveira never captained England. In fact, he wasn't even selected originally for the cancelled tour that you refer to and was added only when, I think, Roger Prideaux and Tom Cartwright were injured, but Colin Cowdrey was always the planned captain both for that tour and the one to Pakistan that replaced it.

Pat - Question 1 Wasn't Basil D'Olivera a South African and Capt of England on the famous tour to South Africa which was cancelled due to politics and the tour went onto Pakistan instead?
This question did not specify after
re-admission?
