Transatlantic watching
School's almost back, Gordon's had his holiday and jaunt to the Olympics, and is spending the rest of the week in Scotland. He seems happy with they way the Olypmics played out, although the dad-on-the-dancefloor Olympic-themed news stories for travelling hacks (Soldiers are the real Olympic heroes, the need for Team UK football and his call to end the medals-for-all culture in schools) had the whiff of crude news-cycle pleasing desperation about them.
In the absence of a Brown ouster plot at this time, the most entertaining game in town this week is US Convention bingo. The winner will be the reader who spots the most ideas nicked from the Democrats in Denver and Republicans in St Paul and introduced next month at the party conferences. Sam Cameron and family chatting with David on a giant video screen? Tune into BBC Parliament and start spotting.
Back in full after the weekend.

I hope Cameron does pinch all the good bits to enable him to quite rightly tear Brown and Labour to pieces. Brown cannot steal any words or phrases from Barak because nobody will believe him. Brown has proved himself a liar, a cheat, a coward, incompetent and totally unelectable as have every one of his ministers.
