Watene takes up chains of office

Adam_watene_2Move over Boris Johnson. Adam Watene, Wakefield's no-nonsense Cook Islands prop, has taken up a Mayoral role in his adopted city. The popular Wildcat has been sworn in as consort of the new Wakefield Metropolitan District Deputy Mayor, Councillor Heather Hudson. "What it means for Adam is that he will accompany me to official functions, wearing his chain of office," Councillor Hudson said. Heather and her husband Clive, who as a busy member of the council's cabinet group is unable to act as his wife's consort, have been friends of Watene since he arrived in 2005 at Castleford, whom Heather continues to support despite her consort's allegiances lying with the Tigers' arch rivals. A thought, do you reckon he'll get to open Cas's new stadium ?

A fine reward for a fine gentleman.

I would hope that he gets to open both stadiums, but the Wakefield one will be best!
