Ryan Bailey's Grand Final shirt appears on ebay

Shirt_2 Shirt1Would someone at Leeds care to explain what Ryan Bailey's Grand Final shirt is doing for sale on ebay ? "LEEDS RHINOS GRAND FINAL WINNERS 2008, OFFICAL SHIRT WORN BY RYAN BAILEY ALSO SIGNED ON REQUEST, DONT MISS THIS COLLECTORS ITEM, ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK THANKS HAPPY BIDDING," says the seller - bailey111183 - who began the bidding for the substitute prop's shirt (complete with water marks, no doubt) at £100. The seller's history includes sale of a 2004 Tri Nations series Great Britain medal for £202. On the bench against Australia at Elland Road that night was, yes you've guessed it, R Bailey.

If you search properly on ebay you will see that Keith Senior's Mrs has been doing the same thing for years....

Don't players in these big games actually get two shirts for match day ? So, is this actual match worn shirt or the 'spare' ? Either way, given he was only on for about 15 minutes, it won't be well used.

Also hasn't Ryan Bailey also sold other items shortly after he's got them, via E Bay before too ? I recall a similar account had a great deal of exclusive England training kit in it, just days after a certain Mr Bailey was in the England squad for a Federation Shield game.

cmon chris - more important things to be bothered about- nobody cares

Chris,

A Rugby career only last 20 years tops - it's a way of putting some extra money in his pocket and upping his pension fund. I don’t see the problem with it what so ever. You want to see what Keef Senior sells on there!

i doubt he's one of the higher paid players at Leeds anyway so good luck to him, he's happy having £200 extra in his pocket and some fan is happy having a winners players shirt in his/her possession - everyone is a winner

oh and did Cherry Warrior say something about the Salary Cap he he he he

2 years ago when he played against France at Headingley beause he was replaced with a few mins. to go he removed his england shirt, threw it on floor and celebrated win not wearing it. Proud rugby player?

Pretty sad that it's being sold so soon after the Grand Final. Usually these things can be auctioned off much later for charity.

Can't see the problem with this. He might as well make what he can from his career. I certainly don't see why Chris would expect Leeds to explain anything.

Why Not, some people are not in to material things if he is not bothered about keeping it then good on him, why shouldn't he raise a few bob, while there is still interest in it, next season its history!

The seller's username is actually bailey111183.
11/11/83 happens to be Bailey's D.O.B. too!

Is this a wind up ? Surely a player wouldn't bung his shirt on ebay, would he ?

Posted by: Numptyboy | 6 Oct 2008 21:09:04

Are Leeds paying him so little that he is having to resort to Ebay? Where is the rest of the salary cap going?
