Pepporoni Pete looks hot
On another busy day's racing, Pepporoni Pete (1.15 Kempton Park) rates the pick of the morning prices at a juicy 7-2 with Sportingbet.
He jumped like an old hand when landing a comfortable success on his debut over fences at Sandown and is readily forgiven a first-fence mistake at Taunton last time which unseated his rider, Sam Thomas. Sure to have been well schooled since, a repeat of that blip is unlikely and it will be disappiointing if he cannot get back to winning ways.
On the betting exchanges, the best play of the day is to back Bible Lord (2.55 Kempton Park) at around 4.5 with a view to laying him back in-running at 1.5. He won his final two starts last season in impressive fashion and has shaped as though he retains all of his ability in two starts this term, looking in need of the run when fourth on his reappearance at Bangor and then failing to stay when tried over farther in the Hennessy at Newbury. He travelled strongly through both races and, while there is a slight doubt over his stamina for this three-mile trip, he is likely to trade at very short odds in running.
