Reds to give City the blues
Backers should take advantage of totesport’s stand-out 23-10 quote about Liverpool beating hosts Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday.
Although the Reds made heavy weather of getting past Derby 2-1 on Boxing Day, they have a useful away record this term with six wins from nine outings.
Interestingly, they have played some of their best football in pressure situations, notably when beating Marseilles 4-0 to confirm their place in the Champions League knock-out phase.
This is every bit as important, because failure to take all three points could spell the beginning of the end of their championship aspirations for another season.
Fernando Torres has been an outstanding signing and, with Steven Gerrard, will set problems for a Manchester City defence punctured in a 2-2 home with Blackburn on Thursday.
Liverpool could be without Sami Hyypia but are likely to recall fit-again full-back Alvaro Arbeloa.
For City, Sven-Goran Eriksson will bring back midfield pair Elano and Dietmar Hamann, left out of the match against Blackburn.
City have an exemplary home record with nine wins from ten starts, but, apart from a memorable 1-0 win over United, they have met few of the top sides.
After United, Liverpool are much City’s toughest test. The visitors know only too well the importance of this game and can rise to the occasion.
City are best at 13-5 with VC Bet, with the draw 12-5 with Boylesports.
