Quantum Leap to step forward

He may be at the veteran stage, but Quantum Leap (4.40 Lingfield Park) retains plenty of ability and is fair value at 10-1 with Sportingbet to see off some younger rivals.

A winner over course and distance in October and November, he has been given a short break since having no luck in running when tenth to Corlough Mountain here in December.  That should have freshened him up and, still well weighted on the pick of last season's form, he looks sure to go close.

On the betting exchanges, Quicuyo (3.45 Ayr) looks a favourite to oppose.  He was given a ridiculously easy lead when winning in similar conditions over course and distance last time and will surely not be allowed so much rope again.  Under a double penalty and in a more competitive race, he may well struggle and should be laid for a place at around 1.5.
