'Tiger' Chambers 3-1 to earn stripes
Punters will need to be quick out of the blocks to grab the 3-1 that Coral offer about Dwain Chambers playing in a Super League match if Castleford Tigers coach Terry Matterson is to be believed.
Matterson, speaking at a press conference on Monday, said that the controversial sprinter, who is beginning a month’s trial with the struggling Super League side, has a “good chance” of making his debut against St Helens at The Jungle on Sunday. Chambers has never played either code of rugby.
“He’s probably 50-50 at the moment,” Matterson said. “We’re busted. We only had 17 players yesterday and lost two more to injury so you do the sums. I would say his chances of playing in the first grade are high.”
Chambers is 1-5 with Coral not to take part in any Super League game for Castleford, and 1-10 not to score a try for the Tigers. He is 5-1 with Coral to confound the doubters by scoring a try.
Ladbrokes offer 33-1 that Chambers represents England at Rugby League. However, they consider it more likely that the 29-year-old features in this year’s Olympics. They go 2-1 about his chances of overturning the BOA ban and winning selection.
