Tigers can earn stripes
Castleford are worth an interest at a stand-out 11-8 with Ladbrokes to overcome visitors Hull in engage Super League on Friday evening. The match will be shown live on Sky.
The meeting gives The Tigers the chance to climb off the bottom of the table, and the key question for them is whether they can get anywhere near repeating the form of last week’s fine 30-24 win over St Helens.
Terry Matterson, the Castleford coach, hardly needs telling that his side need to add some consistency — they have also beaten Leeds Rhinos this term — but he has a big advantage in playing on home turf.
The Tigers have generally been competitive at the Jungle, and they could not meet Hull at a better time.
The visitors have been dogged by injuries this season and Peter Sharp, the Hull coach, is without seven first-choice players. He has had to include five teenagers in his squad for a match which will see his side replace Castleford at the bottom of the league should they lose.
Castleford will few better opportunities than this to move up the league, and they should take it.
Hull are a best-priced 10-11 with Blue Square.
