Valdan the value at 17-2
Reams of quality racing this afternoon, but with Ancien Regime (3.10 Newmarket) having halved in price this morning the pick of the prices now is Valdan (9.20) at Chester this evening.
This gelding put up a smart effort when winning at Thirsk in May and has had valid excuses on all three subsequent starts. Given a desperate ride (made ground up much too quickly on outside around home turn) when sixth at Carlisle, he was then hampered when a fair fourth at Hamilton before finding a slow early pace against him back at Thirsk last time. He should finally get the strong pace that he needs with plenty of front-runners in opposition here and, with the excellent Stephen Donohoe back in the saddle, he is great value at the 17-2 offered by William Hill.

Interested to see you persevering with Valdan after two less-than-inspired rides. Donohoe has a good record for the stable. Today might be the day to get on.
