Watch this space - Graduate Fashionista of the year Jessica Au
As the first real test of the marketability of your clothes, Graduate Fashion Week is one of the key moments of any fashion student's calendar. After all, who can forget Stella McCartney's legendary graduate show, in which she outshone her classmates by enlisting Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell to model her wares?
So, we can imagine that Jessica Au, is feeling pretty hopeful about her career today after picking up the River Island Gold award for her designs. Judged by supermodel Claudia Schiffer, designer Julien Macdonald, Elle Editor-in-Chief Lorraine Candy and River Island CEO Richard Bradbury, the prize includes a cheque for £20,000 and, of course, a shed load of publicity.
Her bold prints also won her a second award for textiles. The judges heaped praise on Jessica, with designer Zandra Rhodes saying that her prints had "taste and fab scale. Jessica’s collection was dramatic and totally wearable"
