CNET gets "disruptive"?

Techcrunch has a piece on CNET's new image hosting service, AllYouCanUpload. "At first glance it doesn’t appear to be very special or disruptive. But it is," it says.

Why are they disruptive? "Because they’ve made this service as painfully easy to use as humanly possible," says searchenginejournal.com.

I would seem that AYCU is winning heart and minds – unfortunately for its rivals.

In particular, Techcrunch argues that the CNET offering – which crucially places no limits on bandwidth – has pulled the rug out from photobucket, another image sharing site that apparently accounted for a very healthy 2 per cent of US internet traffic in April. The service was so popular that 80 photos a second were being uploaded to it.

Martin Green has a post on AllYouCanUpload on his blog. More on the storage system behind it – Haystack – soon, he promises.
