Germans rule in Second Life
Think the virtual world Second Life consists primarily of Americans? Think again. According to the latest comScore tally, Europeans out-number North Americans by a whopping 3-to-1 ratio. Of the 1.3 million people to run the Second Life software in March, 777,000 were Europeans. Digging deeper into the numbers, the Germans, French and then the Brits make up the largest concentration of European Second Lifers. But the Germans are the kings of Second Life, comScore says.
"With nearly 800,000 active residents in Europe, Second Life is proving to be popular on an international scale. It’s especially fascinating to note that the number of active German residents exceeds the number of active residents in the entire U.S.," says comScore's Bob Ivins.
In fact, at 209,000, the Germans alone represent 16 per cent of the total Second Life population. And the Brits? Just 72,000, a figure that's up 24 per cent in the past three months. And the Yanks? They are tied with the Germans, accounting for 16 per cent of the overall Second Life population.
