TC50: The best and worst quotes of TechCrunch 50
A lot of things get said at conferences. Here are some that stood out, for good reasons or bad:
Tim O'Reilly, of O'Reilly Media, quoting an old Usenet joke in response to Tonchidot's presentation:
"The difference between theory and practice is bigger in practice than in theory."
Shane Kempton, of Shryk, which launched its online-banking-for-kids application:
"Parents really love it when they can give their children business plans."
Mike Arrington, to Chris DeWolfe, of MySpace:
"You don't say the word 'Facebook', do you? You say 'our biggest competitor'."
Ashton Kutcher, on product placement in his Blah Girls web video series:
"It's the perfect brand-kid interface."
Adam Lindeman, of Imindi:
"We take all of your thoughts and download them to our database."
Mark Cuban, panellist, in response to Imindi's pitch:
"That sounds like the biggest load of bulls*** I've ever heard. ... Make this a corporate application. Then you only have to find one fellow messed-up soul and you can charge him anything you want."
