Answer – Two players scored at least five goals in the English league on the same day. On September 10, Simon Garner scored five (in Blackburn Rovers 5, Derby County 1) and Tony Caldwell scored five (in Bolton Wanderers 8, Walsall 1). On October 29, Ian Rush scored five (in Liverpool 6, Luton Town 0) and Tony Woodcock scored five (in Aston Villa 2, Arsenal 6).

THE ANSWERS

Question One: (A) 1. In 1987-88, Liverpool were first and United second.

Yes Jason, you are right, the answer is indeed three (Liverpool in 2001). I apologised on the comments section of that piece...

On a previous Friday quiz (1st Feb 08 ?) you asked the following question :-

Question Ten: How many times has one club won the FA Cup and League Cup in
the same season?

(A) 2
(B) 3
(C) 4

You gave the answer as (A) 2, Arsenal and Chelsea. We believe the answer to be 3, with Liverpool being the other team in 2001 or 2002 season.

Any comments ?
