Tuesday trivia question
If you haven't tried Bill Edgar's infamous Friday football quiz, with the answers, click here:
Bill will be back this Friday with another quiz, and to get you warming to the task, he dangles a daily trivia question in front of you in the intervening days, with the solution appearing the following morning.
Today's trivia question is: Which English club faced Scottish opponents in three successive rounds en route to winning a European trophy?
Yesterday we asked you: Paul Gascoigne famously escaped a red card when playing for Tottenham Hotspur against Nottingham Forest in the 1991 FA Cup Final when he injured himself while committing a violent foul on Gary Charles, but he had been sent off earlier in the year. What was unique (at the time) about his dismissal against Manchester United on New Year’s Day?
Answer – He was the first player to be sent off in a league match televised live. Given that 100 or so league games had been screened live by then, it was remarkable that the wait for the first red card had taken so long.
Please come back tomorrow to find out the answer and for another dose of football trivia.
